Thank You Panama

As all good things come to an end, there was an end to my Panamanian life. Thank you for all those who took the time to view my blog and see snippets of my life, thoughts and reflections. Its been truly an honor working and living in Panama. It is also an indescribable feeling knowing that I will always have a home and family waiting for me in Panama and certainly I will be making voyages a mi casa de vez en cuando! Its most certainly not a deserving tribute, but the following clip is my compilation of things that I used to see and people that used to be part of my daily life. http://youtu.be/-T84neN6eGk ps. I will continue to put up educational clips regarding Darien Culture, Panamanian tid bits and what have you. I may consider post Peace Corps clips, we'll see where the wind ba-loooows!!! try this link if you can't get to the video

Clemin is my hero

My Peace Corps Laura should be proud of her student Clemin for his awesome English Poem. Oddly one of my town's infamous drunkard witnessed the poem with us hence my comment "and this guy's a little drunk." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReVf_1j15uM

The Band

Self Explanitory.

Dimarys, Dimahellys and yours truly.

My Best Friend

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_KGQNlkpy0&feature=youtu.be

This is my little Panamanian companion Dimarys. I can honestly say that she is the closest thing to a kid sister to me and I'm gonna miss her without a doubt.

PS. This girl had no idea how to even hold the guitar a year ago and now look at her! I spend a lot of my time jamming with my neighbors, students and friends. Its actually really fun and theraputic!

Translating Medical Missions Feb 2012

It's worth your time to learn another language because....

The following video portrays footage from some of the translation work that peace corps volunteers might find themselves doing periodically throughout their two year commitment. This group is the Church of Christ. They have been in the Darien area for at least 15-20 years (i dont remember exactly). The doctors come on their own tab and volunteer their time for about a week. This particular mission offers doctor checkups, prostate checks, pap smears, dentist checks as well as medicinal resource support free of charge to rural darienitas.

Very inspiring people.
